What is an Export Promotion Council ?

Export Promotion Council's have been set-up by the Government of India, with basic objective of promoting and developing the exports of the Country. Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) is responsible for the promotion of exports of Electronics, Computer / Services and ITES.

What is RCMC ?

Ans.

RCMC stands for Registration-cum-Membership Certificate. Any person applying for

1. Licence/Certificate/Permission to Import / Export.
    
2. Any other benefit or concession under the Foreign Trade Policy shall be required to get  the RCMC granted by the Competent Authority. Competent Authority for Electronic Goods, Computer Software / Services and ITES is ESC.

RCMC is mandatory as explained against Question no. 2 above.

Who all need to get register with ESC ?

 Ans.

All the companies exporting or planning to export items / services in the following sectors are required to register themselves with ESC.

Electronics Hardware

       i.      Consumer Electronics Products

       ii.           Electronics Instruments / Appliances, industrial Electronics products, Electronic Laboratory Equipments, Medical Equipments.

       iii.    Electronic Component / Sub assemblies.

       iv.    Computer Hardware and peripherals.

       v.           Computer Software and Related Services
IT Enabled Services.
Telecommunication Services.

WHAT ARE THE ASSISTANCES TO MEMBERS ? 

Ans.

ü   The Council makes contacts with foreign missions in India as well as Indian missions abroad to collect necessary information to be disseminated among the member exporters.

ü ESC provides market exposure to member exporters by participating in various expositions and trade delegations.

ü ESC organises interactive meetings for the member delegations and invites various delegations from all over the world.

ü    ESC organizes Buyer Seller Meets (BSMs) of member companies with global buyers in India and abroad

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY MARKET DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE (MDA) ? 

Ans.

Through the Market Development Assistance Scheme (MDA) , a financial assistance package offered by Government of India through the Ministry of Commerce & Industry for exporting community in India , the Council assists members to display their business strengths abroad and increase India 's share in the global trade.

Under the MDA scheme, the Indian exporter community is reimbursed a lump sum amount, which they incur in connection with the overseas market development. Activities under the MDA Scheme include Participation in Trade Fair / Exhibitions and Publicity through printed material. The Council has organized several activities, under the scheme and assisted a large number of exporters including SMEs to augment their exports.

The Council disburses very high subsidies to the member participants for participating in several events under the council's banner.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY MARKET ACCESS INITIATIVE (MAI)

The Council is also the nodal point for implementing the Market Access Initiative (MAI). Under this scheme, the enterprises will be given assistance for enhancing their market share through identified activities like market studies, setting up show rooms, warehousing facilities, undertaking publicity campaign, participation in international Trade Fairs, Seminars, Buyer Seller Meets etc
