Mr.S.Radhakrishnan, Managing Director, DESCON limited has become the Chairman of Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC). He has been elected unanimously by the Council’s Committee of Administration for a term of two years at the meeting held recently in Delhi. He is a former President of Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kolkata.
Mr. Arun Khanna and Mr. Prasad Garapati, were also elected unanimously as Vice Chairman (Hardware) and Vice Chairman (Software) respectively for the Council for a term of two years.
“I am happy to lead the ESC at a time when there is significant growth in the export of ICT from the country. Equally significant is the high growth expectations from the segment juxtaposed with emerging challenges. Indian IT sector has to move up in the value chain to stay ahead in the emerging competition unleashed by countries like China, Philippines etc. We will endeavour to gear up Indian ICT companies, especially small and medium enterprises, to invest in innovation and for developing high-ended products,” he added.
IT industry circles feel that Mr. Radhakrishnan, with his leadership qualities and wide networking abilities, will give further momentum to ESC’s drive to empower the small and medium IT enterprises to get a significant share in the expanding e-governance space of the Central and State Governments.
An Alumni of St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, Mr. Radhakrishnan is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries and a law graduate. He started his career as a Company Secretary of Dishergarh Power Supply Company Limited (now DPSC Limited), a Power Generation and Distribution company and went on to become its Managing Director on January 25, 2003. He remained at that post till February 10, 2010.
Mr. Radhakrishnan is also instrumental in forming DESCON Limited - a knowledge based Consultancy Company specializing in the field of IT, ITES, GIS, Power, Engineering & Design and Consultancy Services-in 1995.
Mr. Radhakrishan is closely associated with a number of business, professional and educational organizations. He is a Committee Member, Associated Chamber of Commerce of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), Member - Board of Army Institute of Management, Kolkata, Member – Governing Body, Bhavan’s Institute of Management Science, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kolkata, Managing Committee Member, NASSCOM (Eastern Region) and Committee Member, TIE, Kolkata. |
